This is our (me, Dane Winn, Charlie Miller, Daisy Hynes and Sophie Grimwood) final graduation film. We spent the whole of third year making it. Hope you enjoy it!
Our final year film is going to be online in a couple of days... or should be. Unless someone decides otherwise. Uni is finished now, and i'm ready for the world.. bring it!
I modelled this car in a day and played around with the textures the second day. Lots of compositing in After Effects. This was also the first time I ever modelled a car using panels and starting from the wheel arches. It really is so much easier that way, can't believe i havent done that before. Live and learn.
This is my E4-ident that i submitted to the competition. I made it in 2 days. The first day i modelled and animated everything, the second day i rendered and composited the piece. The music was a ready track that the competition supplied us with. ENJOY!!! -oh and go VOTE online at
Me and Dane Winn got qualified into the Stuttgart international animation festival to make a short animated film in 48 hours. The only thing we got ready was the character (modelled, rigged and textured). From the first minute Dane began animating and I started modelling the environment. We came up with the story in the airport on the way to Germany and story boarded it in our hostel. working on it for 48 hours was really challenging though. We had 2 short naps during the whole time, but i guess it was worth it. We won first prize!!! -What a great experience!!! Here's the film, enjoy!
Our team (a Foot Apart Productions) got into the new issue of Imagine-magazine as the "rising Stars" in animation. It is the best timing we could wish for and we're really excited about it. Thats me in the middle, WOHOO!!!!
The animation on our final film is nearly done and post production has been initiated to get the ball rolling faster. Here are some updated stills from the film.
Me and my collegue Dane Winn were told about this 48 hour animation jam in Stuttgart in May. Basically, there are 6 teams of two people from around Europe who compete against each other to make an animated short in 48 hours. Me and Dane sent our showreels to Germany and a few days ago found out that we got accepted to the competition!!! WWOOO!!! So we're off to Stuttgart Germany in May and hopefully we win the competition. Even if we don't, it's going to be lots of fun and we got free festival tickets to the Stuttgart animation and film festival. Here's the link to the competition:
These are the vehicles we'll use in our animation. 2 civilian car models which will get different paint jobs and a police vehicle. It took about 5 hours to model each. As you can see, the police vehicle is a modification of one of the cars.
I made this 6 second short clip during my christmas holiday. My aim was to test the character rig i made during the summer with Maya and see if it was usable. it was.. to a certain extent. =A silhouette.
This render is made up of 5 different buildings that have been duplicated and modified to look different. with ambient occlusion added and soft shadows instead of harsh ones we got the still to look like we wanted.
Our final animation has changed its name to "Unorganized Crime" and we have finally finished our animatic. Time to start modelling and creating some concept work. I made this apartment in maya just to explore the look of the film. The key element we're gonna use is "ambient oclusion" -which is a separate pass we render on top of the main colored render. These two pictures are a test of how ambient oclusion works. The top picture has got saturation and contrast added to it.
We are working on an amazing new short animation called Plan Z. It's for our final project in uni and it's a heist film, one of my favorite genres. I modified this dollar bill that we printed out and gave to everyone before our pitch in uni.
